20th Annual Gingerbread Festival, Sunday, September 29, 2013

The Heritage Commission Corp. will hold its 20th annual Gingerbread Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the D.T.& I. Depot and Bicentennial Log House Museum, 147 W. Mound St., South Charleston. The band Loosely Strung will again be playing at the Festival, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.Gingerbread Fest 2011 Gingee

New this year will be an antique tractor show, featuring vintage farm equipment and a working steam engine. Local crafts vendors will display numerous handmade and unique items for sale. A new shipment of mouth-blown glass objects made by Historic Jamestown, Virginia artist, Kyle White, will be available for purchase. The third Christmas ornament in the South Charleston Historic Landmarks Series will debut, featuring the Heritage Commission’s Log House covered in snow. Food will be served, including plenty of homemade gingerbread and our famous bean soup, cooked over an open fire. Horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered courtesy of Willow Wind Carriage Service. Tours of the c.1825 Bicentennial Log House will be given, with cooking demonstrations done over the hearth fire. Face painting will be available for kids by artist Elizabeth Altman. Live music by the Springfield Dulcimer Society and others will round out this fun, family-friendly day in the village of South Charleston.Log House 001
